ORDERING YOUR DRINKS.
After validation of your order and receipt of your prescription, your glasses will be ordered within 24 working hours.Our glassmaker is called Shamir, a subsidiary of Essilor, based in Collégien in 77. Your glass arrives in the form of a semi-finished pallet. It will be cut according to the frame you ordered and centered according to your correction.
PROBING THE MOUNT.
The probe takes very precisely (to the nearest millimeter) the dimensions of the chosen frame. This is necessary to cut the glass perfectly.
CHECKING AND CENTERING THE GLASS.
This step allows the optician to check the power and centering of the lenses. The machine marks it with a small mark in ink.
GLASS SIZE.
A machine sticks a glant (small suction cup) to the glass, which will allow the glass to be fixed in order to cut it. The glass is placed in the “automatic grinder”. Using different discs, the glass will be cut and polished so that it can be inserted into the frame.
ASSEMBLY OF THE GLASS IN THE FRAME.
Last step: the cut glass is mounted on the frame. Using a small screwdriver, we loosen the frame in order to insert the glass without damaging it.
Acetate frames need to be heated to make the material extensible and thus insert the lens.
